Travel Information

If you've never been to South Florida, you're in for a treat. We hope you can take a long weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery that Delray Beach has to offer.

Weather

In February, the average high temperature is 76?F and the average low temperature is 58?F. February is also the driest month, so don't make us jinx the weather by saying it won't rain. :)
The average ocean temperature is in the low 70's (way too cold for our Floridian guests, but probably just the right temperature for our California guests). So feel free to bring your bathing suits for a trip to the beach.

Airports

The closest airport is Palm Beach International (PBI) and is about 25 minutes north of Delray Beach.
The next closest airport, which sometimes has cheaper fares, is Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International (FLL) and is about 40 minutes south of Delray Beach.
The next reasonably close airport is Miami International (MIA) and is about 1 hour south of Delray Beach.

Transportation

South Florida is not well known for its public transportation, but Delray Beach is a small town and you can walk to a lot of places downtown. If you're on a very tight budget and are staying in downtown Delray Beach and you are flying into either FLL or MIA, you can catch the Tri-Rail from the airport to Delray Beach and either walk or catch a cab from there to your hotel.
We really recommend that you rent a car, though. It will make your trip much easier as even cabs are hard to find in South Florida. If you're on a tight budget, we can help you find some people to split a car with you, and save money that way.

Hotels

The hotels in Delray Beach tend to be boutique hotels with limited rooms. If you're on a budget or looking to stay at your favorite hotel chain, look for options in nearby Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Boca Raton, or Deerfield Beach.
Below are some Delray Beach options. Be sure to book early as February is the busy season and these hotels have very limited availability!

Colony Hotel

The Colony Hotel is a boutique bed and breakfast hotel in downtown Delray Beach. It is walking distance to the wedding site, and only has a few rooms, so book quickly if you'd like to stay here!
This hotel is definitely 'old Florida' and is on the national historic registry. Really a beautiful treasure in Delray. And don't worry about missing the beach. The Colony hotel has a Cabana Club for hotel guests. It includes 250' of private beach, a heated salt water pool, and shuttle service to / from the hotel.
Rooms start at $178 per night. They give discounted rates the earlier you book.
Contact 561-276-4123 or Colony Hotel.com to make a reservation.

Delray Inn

The Delray Inn has two locations (North and South). South is about a half mile from the wedding site and North is about one mile from the wedding site. This motel provides very basic ammenities, but would be great for those on a budget.
Rooms start at $99 per night
Contact 866-908-3000 or Delray Inn.com to make a reservation.

Bermuda Inn

The Bermuda Inn is on the beach (about one mile from the wedding site). It's beautiful property and you can't beat that rate for the beach!
Rooms start at $202 per night
Contact 866-634-7148 or Bermuda Inn.com to make a reservation.

Area Attractions

NEWS!!! Check out the South Beach Food and Wine Festival Thursday - Saturday before the wedding. For those of you who love food as much as we do, it's an amazing, invaluable festival. There are TONS of events, cooking demonstrations, wine lessons, etc etc. So, sign yourself up! Just don't miss the wedding because you're in a food coma on South Beach. ;)

Check out Downtown Delray Beach's website for great info on area attractions local to your hotel and to the wedding.

Also, within a reasonable driving distance are:
Palm Beach (go see all the stars houses on the water, or go shopping on Worth Ave - the Rodeo Dr of Florida)
Miami (great food, great beaches, great nightlife)
Miami Beach (a little wilder than Miami, better nightlife, and much better beaches, including South Beach)
The Florida Keys (fishing, national parks, southermost point of the US)
