Katie Leland and Matt Napier Wedding

The Wedding Party

Reverand Dr. Barbara Hanshaw, Officiant

Barbara is Katie's grandmother and a reverand at the Alliance of Divine Love. Grandma is an inspiration to those around her, always preaching love and compassion no matter the situation. Grandma is the mother of four beautiful, successful women (including my mom), and the matriarch of the Hanshaw family. Grandma has a great laugh and enjoys puzzles and the color purple. I'm so honored to have her as the officiant for our wedding.

The Bridal Party

Katie Leland, Bride

Katie is a graduate of Georgia Tech and a working project manager for Gallo winery. She grew up in West Palm Beach, FL and moved to Atlanta, GA in 2000 to attend college. She spent eight years mostly in Atlanta (with a summer in Barcelona and two years of traveling to major cities across the US for work) before recently moving to California, following love. In her spare time, she volunteers for the American Cancer Society, perfects her cooking skills, and puts together websites like this wedding site and this jewelry site. She enjoys city girl things like shopping and dinner parties but isn't afraid to get herself dirty with a little camping and kayaking when the mood hits.

Kayla Leland, Maid of Honor

Kayla is my sister and best friend. Although we went through a troubled childhood, mostly hating each other. As we grew older, we realized that the reason we probably hated each other was because we were so much alike. Kayla is the best sister anyone could ask for, and while I'm in California, she's acting as my bridezilla in Florida, already finding us a location, photographer, and hotels. Kayla grew up in West Palm Beach, FL and moved to Boston, MA in 2004 to attend college at Boston Univeristy. She also briefly lived in Washington, DC, London, and Kenya while attending college and interning at various law firms. Kayla now lives in West Palm Beach, FL and works as a case manager at a local law firm, while she applies to law school.

Kate Napier, Bridesmaid

Kate is Matt's sister. Over the past year, Kate and I have had our share of adventures including the creation of a beautiful Kentucky Derby Hat and a complete girls night with junk food and sappy movies. I'm so very excited to have another sister in my family. She is so caring, funny, and energetic, I know we will have a great life together. Kate lives in San Luis Obispo, CA while she's attending college at Cal Poly, obtaining a degree in timber management. During the summers, she lives in North Fork, CA and works for the forestry service.

Jen Johnson, Bridesmaid

Jen is my BFF, for sure. Jen and I met in college, as sorority sisters for the sorority that Jen helped found (Chi Omega Tau). She and a few other girls got together and decided that there wasn't a sorority on campus that suited their tastes, so they just started a new one (a much more difficult task than it may seem). This firestarter attitude and love for people made Jen and I a perfect match from the start. We were definitely friends in college, but have become so much closer afterwards. Our favorite thing to do together is drink wine and talk about everything, coming in a close second is shopping at $100 or less boutiques. Jen grew up in Spartenburg, SC and moved to Atlanta in 1999 to attend college at Georgia Tech. She currently lives in Atlanta with her wonderful husband, Mark, and their adorable puppy, Priscilla (aka Squilla).

Kimberly Leland, Mother of the Bride

What can I say? That's my mom. She's been my confidant and friend since I was a little girl. Mom is so loving and compassionate, always giving and never asking for anything in return. She has always welcomed all of my friends with a big hug and a warm meal. Mom is such a strong woman; she's been through her share of difficulties and always perservered. And man, does she know how to throw a party. She has been a great role model for me as a mother and I hope I can be the same for my children when I have them. In addition to all these things, Mom and Dad have been married for over 30 years and they are still madly in love with each other.

David Leland, Father of the Bride

And this is my dad. Dad is a number of things including hilarious, loving, and a hardass. He has a way of reading people that I hope to master. Any time I'm not sure about someone, I introduce them to Dad and he can read them in a few minutes and tell me what kind of person they are. He also has an amazing business sense, starting (with my mom) a printing company that has been going strong for 20 years and counting. Dad is my advice man. He always has a great answer and an ear to listen and he doesn't put up with any crap. I'm pretty sure I get my brutal honesty from him. Dad has never been afraid to tell me that he loves me and that he's proud of me. He's also never been afraid to tell me that I'm slacking and I need to get my act together. All of these things together make him an amazing father and a great man.

The Groom's Party

Matt Napier, Groom

Matt is a wildland firefighter, working for Cal Fire. He grew up in California, spending some time in Southern California and some time in the mountain area near Yosemite National Park. He briefly moved to Atlanta to 'give things a go' with Katie and now they both live in California, while Matt continues his third season with Cal Fire. In his spare time, Matt likes to hike, fish, kayak, camp and make Katie laugh.

Sean Phillips, Best Man

Sean and I first met when we were in the Theatre Arts program at Yosemite High School. We have been great friends ever since. Sean and I still keep in touch even though he lives in Washington D.C. (so when you movin back?) working as a sound engineer for NPR radio. Sean has a great sense of humor, bulging biceps, and a loyal mother.

Dallas Leland, Groomsman

Dallas and I met for the first time last Christmas and right away we got along. Though Dallas is only 14, he brings out the kid in me when we are together, and in my case, the kid in me is pretty huge. Airsoft guns, Pizza, and Xbox games keep us busy while I am visiting.

Jeremie Kramer, Groomsman

Jeremie and I also first met in High School Gym class and are still great friends. Jeremie and I have played countless hours of card, computer, board games over the years. Jeremie can lighten up any dull room with his jokes and jibes.

Melissa Napier, Mother of the Groom

Mom is hardworking, loving, patient and wise. (Try doing all that while raising two kids by yourself!) She has had such an impact on my life that she became a role model of mine since I was young. I mostly attribute my successes in life to her raising me the right way and showing me how the world really works. Life isnt fair, but if you want it bad enough and you work hard enough, you may just get it. I have the best mother anyone could ever ask for.

Bill Napier, Father of the Groom

My Dad is a man that is in constant motion. I dont think I have ever seen him sit still long enough to finish a movie. He is a man with varied interests and dreams. He is what some would call a "Jack of all trades" at life. Among many other things he has raced Mustangs, become an expert skier, a sailor, a pilot, and an outdoor enthusiast. I chose only this small part of the pasttimes he has because I feel that it gives an accurate image of who my dad is. My dad is an adventurer always looking around the next corner for new fun and exciting things.
